Speed of Opening Accordance - Splash Screen Test

Recommended Posts

I did some unscientific experiments on the speed of opening up Accordance using both with the splash screen and without the splash screen.

With the splash screen, Accordance 11.1 opened up in ~12 seconds.

Without the splash screen, Accordance 11.1 opened up in less than 5 seconds.

I'm not a geeky to know enough about why this is, but I thought those who are trying to sneak a few more seconds into their workflow might be interested to know this.

For those who want to turn the splash screen off, go into Preferences --> General --> "Suppress opening splash screen."

I kinda miss the cool artwork coming up, but it's worth it to have a couple extra seconds of speed :).

I don't experience any delay with splash screen turned on. 1-2 bumps and Accordance is fired up. It seems we are running the same MBP, which compared to newer models has one huge advantage: you can upgrade your harddrive. The best thing I ever did to a computer was to install a SSD in my now aging MBP. We are talking hyper speed, comparably, from 10-15 bumps to 1-2. I hardly ever see the flywheel these days :). So that would be my best recommendation for getting another two-three year out of your MBP - if you did not already do that.

Your post reminded me that I hadn't yet updated my signature to note my upgraded HD. I upgraded to a Crucial SSD (512gb) a couple months ago. So fast!
