Sentence Diagramming Resource

Michael Miles

Recommended Posts

Perhaps Accordance could develop a sentence diagramming resource, somewhat like the old Reed & Kellogg, to explain and demonstrate further than the link that is provided to a web site within the Accordance Help files does.

I'd rather keep my face in Accordance than to have to wander about in the tameless wilderness.  How about that?

Thank you,

Michael

Hi, Michael!

I am happy to hear you are enjoying our software. Try this location link for more information: accord://read/Dr._J’s_BSM#507

We are trying to acquire the resource mentioned under Sentence Diagramming, “Diagramming and Conducting a Grammatical Analysis,” chapter five of Thomas R. Schreiner’s Interpreting the Pauline Epistles, 2nd Ed. (Baker: 2011), but have no progress to report as of yet. The other resources mentioned in this paragraph are PDFs and can be downloaded.

Dear Dr. J.

Unfortunately your link need 2 step to work. Maybe Daniel Semler or Joe Weaks are able to write a script which work on right click until it is supported by the forums software.

Hi Dr. J,

I was able to take your Accordance URI link reference and insert it into a Word document, from which point I could click right to it.  Thank you for taking the time to point me to the considerable and knowledgeable work that you have provided us with in your Bible Study Methods.

Going through the various methodologies that you cover, the closest to my current mental perspective when I'm looking at Scripture is the Sentence Flow Chart, as many of the questions that your students write down in the left column are parallel to how I think.  Your summing up regarding diagramming where you point out Reflecting on Larger Contexts also struck a chord with me, as I have, over the years, built up a pretty hefty mental cross reference system that I draw upon in my studies.

I also found the Hebrew Syntax Tree to be something that would be helpful.

Thank you again for pointing out this resource.

Cheers,

Michael

The 2 steps that I was referring to :)

I'm sure some of the tech guys here find a great way to let such links life.

Greetings

Hi, Michael!

Happy that you've found it useful.

I too like sentence diagramming the best. If I need to examine a phrase more closely, I just skip directly to syntax analysis for the phrase, rather than diagramming the whole sentence.

I'm not sure why the links don't work on our forums, but I'm sure someone will get around to fixing that issue, eventually.
