Slow installation - no installation? Help please

I was excited to receive the Scholar's Collection 7.1 bundle in the mail today. To cut to the chase, I can't get the thing to install properly.

After I ordered the items the other day, I received an email saying I could download the demo version to try it out until the CDs arrived. I did that, so you should keep in mind that I have that demo version still hanging around on the computer (I didn't think that would be a problem, plus I couldn't figure out how I could remove the program if I wanted to).

I took out the new CDs today and placed the main Scholar's Collection CD into the computer. I click on that collection to be installed, gave the proper code, and it began to do its thing. However, once it got to "809 files remaining", it began to deathly crawl. About 3 minutes passed until it got to 808, same thing with 807, about 7 minutes to get to 806, and it stayed there for well over 20 minutes. I did cancel at this point because I figured something was up. After rebooting, I tried it again, and the exact same thing happened, but this time I let it keep going. After another huge wait, it finally got down to somewhere in the 790s or lower before things started to pick up again. Once it got to 0 files remaining, it had a long pause for several minutes again, and final gave me some prompts to register. It may be of concern to say that during the installation process, my computer would say the installation program was not responding, even though it was still doing some work, be it agonizingly slow.

I tried sticking in one of the other CDs, assuming they have the modules on them. It got stuck too with 700-some files remaining. I got tired after another 20 minute wait with no apparent progress and decided to type this post for some help. I've tried opening Accordance too, and now it doesn't even bring up the demo version.

My MacBook is less than a month old and is a 10.4.1, so it is up to speed. Do I need to remove everything Accordance related from my computer and start again? If so, how do I do that? (This is my first Mac, and I'm not finding a simple solution to uninstall Accordance). I am really looking forward to using this product, but it has become extremely frustrating having spents hours of my day trying to fix this and I'm in a worse place than where I started. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Edited to add: I haven't had any issues with the installation of other programs on this computer.

Kris:

One of the quirks of these installers is that while they are just copying the files from the CD-ROM to the hard drive they give very little or no indication that they are doing anything. This can take quite a long while. The items to install are those compressed in the installer itself (mainly the Help files) If you got to the Registration page, the installation was completed. My guess is that your frustration was just because you kept restarting the process rather than just letting it run.

I called Kris: his problem was that he had moved the Accordance app from the Accordance folder into Applications. This was a bad idea as certain procedures are done to every file in the folder. We are cleaning it all up and it's working fine.

Things appear to be resolved; Helen called and helped me work through my problems. Being new to the Mac world, I did a no-no with the demo version by moving a few things around, which then messed up the Scholar's installation. I was still thinking PC, when those thoughts actually mess up Mac. Lesson learned.

Thanks so much to Helen! The program is running now and I'm sure I'll get all my modules working just fine after they are installed. Excellent service, Accordance!
