Jan Klein
I'm very sorry to see that Logos has many more 'normal' books in their assortment than Accordance. I was looking for "Jesus and the Eyewitnesses" from Richard Bauckham. It was in Logos, not in Accordance. I'm very curious about this book. Is there a possibility to add it to the Accordance collection or do I have to buy it at Amazon?
Helen Brown
Our focus is to get the best Bible Study tools and texts for the widest audience. We do offer a large library of these top-level materials, but our aim is quality rather than quantity. It is true that Logos offers a larger library. If the book you want is mainly one to read, rather than a reference work you will want to use for years to come. it is probably better to buy it on Amazon.

Your concern about availability in Accordance aside, you will LOVE that book if you haven't read it already. Bauckham's work on the subject is outstanding. Just to give you the perspective for someone who doesn't actually work for OakTree, as a user of Accordance I must say that what Helen was written is 100% true. Jan Klein
@John, Thank you. I was somewhat confused because of the words of Helen about quality and quantity. @Helen, Thanks, I understand the considerations of Accordance. Thanks Alistair. Daniel Francis
Jan one thing you may do to have any book in Accordance is manually input it as a user tool. I have done this only a couple times. PLEASE NOTE this is technically illegal. But I see it as fair use and as long as one is not distributing it to others I cannot see anyone being prosecuted. I have twice in the past like i said bought a book in Amazon and used calibre to remove the DRM to process it into an Accordance module. It was not too hard... although with a large work I did need help getting it done but for the most part it was pretty easy. -Dan

Timothy Jenney
As Helen said earlier in this thread, I too make a distinction between the books I use regularly for reference (sources of likely preaching/teaching material) and the books I figure I'll read once. The latter I usually purchase as Kindle books. It's the same format in which I usually purchase my fiction (sci-fi, epic fantasy, and mystery thriller) books. I want to acquire them as cheaply as possible, so I don't care that Kindle doesn't have Accordance's advanced features. These are now my equivalent of the older paperbacks. My "hardcover books," the ones I plan to consult time and again, are all in Accordance. If I were buying them in print, I'd make sure they were printed on good, quality paper and had a durable binding. That's because I'd plan to use them a lot—and I have wore out books before from too much use. I'm willing to pay more for reference books in Accordance, not because they are more durable, but because Accordance's features make them so much easier to use. I haven't read "Jesus and the Eyewitnesses," so I can't comment on its quality. I can say that there are lots and lots of books out there that simply aren't worth our time to develop. Their period of popularity is brief, then they fade and others take their place.
HansK
This is one of the reasons I use Logos besides Accordance. Logos is more of a Library (a heavy Kindle), Accordance is my Bible Study Program. Hans Edited April 4, 2016 by HansK
