Problems with untied autoscrolling panes

I have been having an issue with Accordance when I use multiple panes side by side. I need to untie the autoscrolling so that I can look at multiple books of the Bible side by side next to each other. For example, I am looking at the synoptic gospels side by side and I click untie autoscrolling because I don't want them all on the same book and verse. If I click on a pane and type in a book and a verse like Luke 16 then all the other panes automatically revert to Genesis 1:1 if they are untied. Because of this I can never look at multiple different texts at one time side by side each other. It is pretty frustrating, does anyone have any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your time!

Are you aware of and using the various Parallel databases? These let you view parallel passages, hassle free.

romans6, while I recommend the Parallels databases that Helen refers to, I do believe that your current setup is also workable.  The key change you need to make, however, is where you do the typing.  It seems as though you are typing in the new location (Luke 16, for instance) into the top entry box, which tells Accordance you want to run a new search and display, in all panes, Luke 16, perhaps with context.  Instead, consider typing in the Goto box in the bottom right corner, which means 'leave everything else alone, but navigate to this verse'.  I am able to accomplish what you are looking for by using the Goto box and untied panes.

Helen, the parallels are helpful, originally I thought that my package came with them but was having trouble finding anything that said synoptic. Turns out that they were hiding on the very bottom of my library unopened, silly me. Thanks.

Joel, thanks so much for this comment it was exactly what I was doing wrong and exactly what I want to be able to do for various passages.

Thank you!

The new Info Pane in Add Parallels tells you which parallels there may be on the verse at the top of the panes.
