I'm trying to find all of the periphrastic participles appearing in the Aramaic section of Daniel. Basically I'm looking for any participle preceding or following the copula hwh. I performed one search that seemed to yield all the results, but it seems a little off. Some of the verses don't have a periphrastic participle or only the participle and not hwh is highlighted.

This is the search I did:

[VERB passiveParticiple] <OR> [VERB participle] <WITHIN 1 Words> hwh

With the range set to the Aramaic sections of Daniel.

Any suggestions?

The problem is the ambiguous precedence in your argument. When <OR> is used with another connecting command you need to use parentheses to group the commands. In your argument the Within can be read as applying only to the second term.

Therefore use:

( [VERB passiveParticiple] <OR> [VERB participle] ) <WITHIN 1 Words> hwh

or in this case you did not need to use <OR> at all, you would get the correct result with

[VERB (passiveParticiple, participle)] <WITHIN 1 Words> hwh

You can get this argument by pressing shift as you select an alternate tag in the dialog box.
