john_edinburgh
Hi - I'm trying to identify verbs that occur at the end of sentences (plus clauses if possible) in Aramaic texts (largely Qumran, Targums & Ancient Egyptian Documents). I can identify those that occur at the end of paragraphs by using a graphic search, but I am unable to specify a period as a search element either graphically or as a straight syntax search. PLACE is of no help because sentences vary in length (it's easy to identify verbs at the beginning of sentences). I wonder if anyone knows a way to specify terms at the end of sentences. Maybe there is also a way to specify the end of clauses also. Going through every sentence identifying those with verbs at the end by visual inspection would be far too time consuming - there ought to be a smart way to do this. John Fidel
You want to use the Field command. Go to your morphologically tagged text enter the following search: [FIELD End] <WITHIN 1 Words> [VERB] (Note I set this up with a Greek Text) Then go the to the More options and select search within every sentence (or clause)
