Copying Eng text from Accordance to Word and Powerpoint

I am a power user of Word and PowerPoint together and use power point for every class I teach. I have the most current versions of all of these programs including Accordance.

My procedure is to create everything in my Word document notes. I copy and paste verses from Accordance into Word. I usually set them in their own indented blocked paragraph.

I have the preferences set to verse ref before verse, underlined, font at Times New Roman

Sometimes when this is copied into Word I lose the font, and it defaults to Ariel, if its several verses and I insert into an indented section, the first verse is not indented, and the subsequent verses are.

I have never noticed that it loses the end of mark for underlines or italics.

To get Scripture into Power point, I first mark each verse as a Heading Style 1. Doing this does not affect the underline or the italics. I use the automated File/Send to/Powerpoint to transfer the verses into powerpoint. Each verse will insert into a title text box in successive individual slides.

However, if the text originates in Accordance, whenever the text is either underlined or italicized, then every word from that point to the end of the verse is either underlined or italicized or both.

If I just type a sample paragraph in Word or insert from another source, add underlines and italics, then send to Powerpoint, the underlines and italics don't bleed to the rest of the text. Only if the original source is Accordance.

Also, why can I not simply paste Accordance text into Powerpoint, I always have to use Paste Special.

Hi Robby,

This is the type of request that is difficult for folks to repeat what you're doing, but you've made good attempts at being explicit on how you repeat the problems. I do not have Office 08, but cannot repeat all of what you describe using my Office 04. A couple questions of clarification that may help someone else assist you.

Sometimes when this is copied into Word I lose the font, and it defaults to Ariel,
This happens when you have your Greek & Hebrew preferences set to "Export all characters in Unicode format". With that checkbox enabled, the font face gets stripped. Bummer, I know.

if its several verses and I insert into an indented section, the first verse is not indented, and the subsequent verses are.
I do not understand what you are indicating here.

...if the text originates in Accordance, whenever the text is either underlined or italicized, then every word from that point to the end of the verse is either underlined or italicized or both.
This does not happen in Office 04 on my machine.

Also, why can I not simply paste Accordance text into Powerpoint, I always have to use Paste Special.
I do not understand what you mean by this. At least on Powerpoint '04, I can paste text copied from Accordance, and it retains the formatting.

By this question, I am also wondering if you're asking is why can I not copy individual paragraphs/verses from Accordance and then paste into Powerpoint in a way that it automagically places an individual verse each on a separate slide. The reason is that you can't do this copying paragraphs from any application. You can't even copy from Word and have it automagically split paragraphs into separate slides. This happens only as a special function of the "Send to..." command within Office.

However, being a "power user", you can create a solution that does all of what you want for you. A small script could copy the highlighted text in Accordance, move to Powerpoint and automagically places each verse as separate slide into a Powerpoint presentation. This is how I'd do what you're talking about.
