Favorite workspaces won't open

I just figured out how to save Workspaces to my Favorites in the Library in 8.3.1 (on OS X 10.6), but then I cannot open them from the Favorites "star" icon in the Resource Palette. I can open them from the File>Open menu item only. Through that second method, I can see that the files are saved at myname/Documents/Accordance Files, whereas this folder name also exists in Macintosh HD/Accordance Folder, which is where the installer has always installed Accordance (for some reason which I don't understand, it never installs it in the Applications folder). Is there a problem with the file location? Or is it something else I'm overlooking?

Thanks!

First, Accordance up to version 6 installed on the hard drive, but since 7 it can be moved to Applications, and since 8 a new installation goes to Applications. Just remember always to keep Accordance.app inside the Accordance folder!

I cannot reproduce your problem though. Yes, the saved favorite session should be saved to ~/Documents/Accordance Files. This folder name is not normally created in the Accordance folder at all. If you simply save a workspace in the File menu, the file is only saved in this location. However, saving it as a favorite adds it to Favorites in the Library window and the Favorites pull-down menu (Star).

There are 3 ways to save a workspace as a favorite:

  • The Star pull-down menu
  • The Window menu
  • The Add menu on the Library window

There are 4 ways to save a module as a favorite:

  • The Star pull-down menu
  • The Window menu
  • The Add menu on the Library window
  • Dragging the module into Favorites on the Library window and click Update to make it appear on the Star menu.

I just tested all of these on 8.3.1. If this is still not working for you, please contact tech support directly so we can see what is happening at your end.

Thank you so much Helen! Wow! you are fast! (after hours, no less!)

I moved the Accordance Folder from Macintosh HD (where it had lived since version 6) to the Applications Folder. Then I made sure my favorite workspaces were in ~/Documents/Accordance Files, and voila! Everything is working well.

(Though I had to re-save one of my Favorite Workspaces under a new name and delete the old one, which for some reason still would not work, though saved in the same Accordance Files folder. I had tried this renaming attempt before moving the app to Applications, but to no avail. So, moving it did something to make everything play nice.)

Sorry if this is too much info.

Hmm. My Accordance folder is not in Applications, but it works fine. I suspect that wasn't the problem. However, it may be that Favorites does require the file to be saved in ~/Documents/Accordance Files and not in any other location (on OS X anyway).

What hours?
