strange bug with command key...

Whenever I hit the command key (e.g. command-Q to quit), Accordance opens the info screen for the Christian Biography module, but the module never actually opens. I pretty much notice it when I quit, and everything else works fine, but it is getting annoying. Any ideas what might cause this?

I had a similar problem yesterday after updating four different modules (all translations). Accordance worked fine, but I could not close the application. The Command-Q key combination would not work, and neither would the menu option to quit the program. I did a force-quit (Option-Command-Escape) and then rebooted the computer. Everything was fine after the reboot.

It would help if you could tell us which Mac OS you are using, and which Accordance version. Also what window was in front when you attempted to quit.

You cannot quit when there is an open dialog such as the save dialpg on the Library or Preferences window.

I should have included this in my first response:

When I had this problem I was using one of my older computers: a Mac G4 running OS 10.5.8; the only program running was Accordance 8.3.3, and the only window I had open was a workspace with a single tab (NKJV).

I can reproduce this by:

  • turning off the option "Supress opening text information" in Preferences > General > Information
  • having the Instant Details window open
  • hovering my mouse over words in a Bible text

The info screen should only show up once when Accordance loads the appropriate dictionary module while the cursor is over a word or reference.

For more information about pressing the command key when the cursor is over a word or reference check out:

Accordance Help > Digging Deeper > Instant Details > III. Instant tool look-up

This is my idea for what is causing the info screen to be displayed.
