...underwhelmed...

Given no response to my diagramming question(s) - other than the deafening sound of crickets chirping - I'm almost tempted to reinstall fusion and buy a copy of Bibleworks (which my seminary friend has and apparently it includes quite a lot of completed diagrams)... Does no one use this feature?

[Chuckle] Sorry, Ryan, I missed your first post. Would you mind posting your question again?

You can bring a topic to people's attention by replying to it. There is really no need to make a separate topic for each post, and you asked two questions yesterday so I really don't know which one you are referring to, nor why you are threatening us.

Good point about the second post - I thought of it afterwords and never considered adding it as a reply... I was referring to either/both since neither got much of a response. As far as a threat - never! First - I guess you guys at Accordance were not who I had in mind. Since I think of this as a user forum - I was a little surprised that a bunch of people read the question but not one replied... By the way, if I did such a thing [buy another Bible software] (1)my wife would rightfully kill me for spending the money just for a bunch of diagrams and (2)it would only be for the diagrams - making it a really stupid thing to do.

Dr. J missed my point, perhaps you did too, that you can group the words with the Group command. They have always been split in the morphologically tagged text, so that you can search for a word without worrying whether it has a prefix or suffix added to it.

No, I got your point but simply grouping them (which I would already do) doesn't solve the problem of having the words spaced all over the page... First, I have to drag them all together while paying attention to spacing (using arrow keys, mouse, and command+arrow) and alignment - then I can group them. It's just a little tedious - no big deal if it's only 1 verse but becomes rather cumbersome when doing more than that. The tagging is great - the ability to have the parts of speech id'd by color is really helpful but separating them from each other seems redundant (for identification) and unnecessary.

I agree, Ryan. It would be nice to have the option to put the word units together in the diagram or to have each word separated into an individual item.

I apologize if I don't exactly know to what you are referring specifically.

For my own part, I haven't really used the syntax diagramming--not because it isn't a useful thing to have, but because it seems like it's an immature part of the whole Accordance application.

I have made diagrams for pastor conference papers. But, other than that, it isn't developed enough for use in my weekly exegesis. What would help is:

1) a way to link verses to diagrams, like the user notes do (having to save workspaces for each diagram was awkward). Giving diagrams their own database might help (?).

2) a way to export them in a graphically appealing format (If one goes to "file--save as picture--jpeg", you get a really ugly product (see attached). I had to to take a screen shot with the 'grab' application to make it useable in my presentation)

Just my thoughts,

I agree with these enhancements. I don't diagram much, but when I've tried to use Accordance I wasn't all that happy with it. Another thing that would be potentially helpful is some sort of indicators of proximity

Just my thoughts,

If I'm understanding things correctly, I agree on the following two enhancements:

1) having to save workspaces for each diagram was awkward

I'd like to be able to save diagrams as individual files rather than having to use a workspace and have a bunch of tabs to store each diagram. I have a habit of inadvertently closing a tab and then the diagram is gone if I haven't saved the workspace.

2) a way to link verses to diagrams, like the user notes do

This would be nice, but I'd like the linking to be in user tools as well.

Cheers,

Tom W.

Having recently begun working with the diagrams feature, I would second the motion to add:

1. The ability to save the diagram separately,

2. The ability to link a verse with the diagram.
