Ploni
When I try to add the Accordance widget to the dashboard by clicking on the plus sign to the left of the dashboard the dashboard "disappears" and I am returned to the desktop. I have tried deleting preferences files and reinstalling but to no avail.
Joel Brown
It sounds like something funky with your dashboard as a whole, not just the Widget. Have you tried restarting the computer?

Joel Brown
Again, I really doubt that Accordance or the Accordance widget have anything to do with it. Either you have a bad widget installed, or more likely, a preference file is corrupted. Locate these two files in your [user Home Folder]/Library/Preferences/ : com.apple.dashboard.client.plist and com.apple.dashboard.plist . Try moving those files to the desktop, then logging out and logging back in to your user. Does this solve the problem?

Joel Brown
I would like to work with you in person on this, I'll send you a message to schedule some one on one time. Once we've figured out the problem I'll post the results here.
Joel Brown
The good news is we found the problem, the bad news is we haven't found the solution. It seems that any 3rd party widgets (ones that aren't included with the system) are causing the same problem, in that the dashboard goes away when they are added. Very strange problem! We are busy trying to find a solution.
Joel Brown
So, we were able to finally find the problem. It seems that Parental Controls can sometimes cause an issue with 3rd party dashboard widgets. This may occur, even if the controls are disabled. The steps to fix it are: 1) Create a new, administrator user. 2) Set your primary user to not be an administrator. 3) Give your primary user parental controls, but enabling full access. 4) Ensure the widgets work now. 5) Remove all parental controls. 6) Re-enable administrator privileges for your primary user. 7) Delete this temporarily created new user. So, in case anyone else is experiencing a problem where all Apple widgets work, but not 3rd party ones, try those above steps. Thanks for working with me on this and helping find a solution.
