Don't Know How to Install New Products with Unlock Codes

Hello,

I'm a new Accordance user who recently purchased a combination package of the Scholar's Collection and the Standard Library Collection. I've installed these and I'm running them with no problems. However, today I purchased the works of Philo and Josephus online and cannot figure out how to install them with the unlock codes that were provided to me. I've tried using the Installer and this just reinstalls Accordance without giving me an option to install new products. I've read all of the instructions and still cannot figure out how to install the products I've purchased. Any help would be appreciated. It seems like this should be fairly straight forward and I've spent the last hour and a half reading through the FAQ section of Accordance and still can't figure this out.

Thanks,

Lynn

Are you running the installer on the Scholar's Collection disc? The installer will let you enter unlock codes and show you what it will install.

I think so. I'm running the Primary 8.4 DVD, the only disc I have. Is that the same thing?

Thanks,

Just paste your new codes into the Primary Installer, one by one, then click Install.

But where, or how do I go about getting to a point where I can put in a code? When you say "Installer", are you talking about the Primary 8 DVD that came with my original purchase? I've run the 8.4.4 Installer and I am not being given an option to install the codes. It's only reinstalling over what I already have.

Thanks,

Lynn

No, the installer on the primary DVD, not the updater that you downloaded from the website.

I finally figured it out. I had to randomly guess which file to select after trying the DVD again. When trying to figure out which "Installer" to use I had to decide between a folder that says "8 Installers" and then an icon that says "Primary 8 Installer", and then there's the icon on my desktop that says 8.4.4 Installer.

I never downloaded an updater from the website. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I am sorry for the confusion. Let me attempt to clarify:

The 8.4.4 Installer on the desktop is an installer/updater which you downloaded, and installs only the Accordance program, no modules. There is now an update to 8.4.5, by the way.

To install modules you either download separate installers from the website (mainly the Starter collection, certain Bibles, and new modules which didn't make it onto the latest Primary DVD), or you install them from a disk.

Each of our more recent CD-ROMs or DVDs has a separate folder for 8 Installer or 7 Installers, but you can ignore it. The main installer on the disk (such as the Primary Installer) will run the appropriate program installer from that folder if you do not already have at least the version which they contain. The main installer should always be used to install pacakges and modules as it will accept the one code, find all the modules that belong to it, copy them to the Accordance folder, and add them to Accordance menus. In most cases the main installer will also update any modules you already have, if there are newer versions on the disk. In the case of the Primary Installer there are so many modules on the disk that you need to check the box to run through the update routines just once, and not waste time doing it on every subsequent install.

We get a lot of requests for simpler downloadable installation and updates of our products, and we hope to offer this soon for most products. It's increasingly feasible with the improvements in bandwidth. All products will always be available on disk for those who prefer it.
