User Names

We are requesting that you register with your real name, as we feel it is appropriate for this type of message board. However, we cannot require this, and we recognize that some people have valid reasons for not posting their actual names on these forums.

We can change your user name for you either way. Your posts and password would not be affected. Just email me with the old and new name, and I can take care of it.

Could you please change my username to "Super Fly"?

I just registered a few days ago, and remember nothing on the registration page about requesting the username to be a real name. I just used my normal username and avatar that I use just about everywhere. You might want to consider modifying the registration page with your request (or else, I just missed it... :-)

I did add my real name and identification to the signature.

If you want to change my username, that's fine with me.

Although, just to say that not everyone uses usernames on forums like this in order to hide their identity. Often the username is a statement of an interest or a joke or something.

Take mine: I've been a StarTrek fan since 1967. With a first name like mine, the choice of a username is a natural one. Or, for another example, my google email account is <empirical.humanist@gmail.com>, which is a statement about my academic commitments and a joke since most folk would consider "empirical humanist" to be an oxymoron...

 How can I refuse Capn Kirk? We are also Star Trek fans.

However, I renew my plea to everyone to use your real full name as your user name. The registration page does request it.

If you want me to change your user name, just let me know. It will make my day. ;)

Could I make a suggestion that anyone who works for, represents, or is affiliated with OakTree use their full name on the forum. I see no disadvantage. I feel like the transparency is much appreciated by the user community.

My name and my user name are real. My full name is: José Cordeiro Morgado; and my user name is: Jose Morgado.

I was looking around trying to find out how to do just this. Can you please change my user name to "Randy W. Sims"?

Thank you.

May I renew my plea to use a version of your real name as your display name. It does not need to be your full name. It just helps make the forums more personal, and may help the staff to provide support for your questions.

Just send me an email if you want to change your display name. It does not change your login name, and it immediately updates all your posts.

Still hoping for "Super fly", or some variant.

I emphathize with Joe. Especially for those of us trying to reduce our digital footprint from the ever watching eyes if "big brother," being forced to use our real names might put us and fellow Accordancers into future jeopardy, especially if they try to blame global warming or the Arab Spring or earthquakes in CA on the subversive Mac community. I would feel much more at ease if it were merely "oriental spider" responding to a post by "super fly."

Joe, I believe it's true in every state that everyone gets a free name change with a new Social Security card (which is the first place that makes it official). Then you could be Super Fly and be using your real name on the forums.

Sincerely,

A-train

Who cares? Mossad and .... All have our names already and Accordance has nothing to do with it. Agent Obama-Bush. Chew on that NSA meta sniffers. Have you ever heard of the "Bible Code"?

JohnGideoninMN. The pass is Rahab

Please folk, don't take my Accordance away. John Besse

Hi Helen,

I would like to change my user name from E-Library to David_Bailey. When I registered, I expected to see a "Display name" field, but the registration process never asked for one, and I do not see it in the Edit Profile section. If I had known during my registration, I would have used my real name.

By the way, I am enjoying Accordance and have lots to learn about using it.

thanks,

David

Hi Helen,

I saw this thread just now; I didn't notice this request when I registered last year. Please change my display name (without changing the login name) to "Anthony Sepulveda".

Thanks,

--anthony

OK...I goofed.  I want to change the user name that I registered with to my real name but I can't seem to figure out how to do that.  I'm new...and obviously not to bright.   I would like to change it to Gary Mendenhall.  Appreciate the help.   (What a legacy for a first post)

A note for anyone wanting to change their display name. It is one of the options under My Settings. The username for logging in stays the same, though.
