SWallace
Hello, I am quite new to Accordance but have been enjoying it thoroughly! I was wondering if there might be an easier way of reading the footnotes available in a variety of the Bible texts. I'm referring to the superscripts that will give either a variant, a cross-reference or note. I realize that you can add a notes pane to the text (something that I am currently doing) but I was wondering if there was a quicker way (i.e instant details). Thanks! Actually, your request was echoed by an attendee in last week's User Conference. The short answer is "no," but here's why... The Instant Details Box is convenient, but users can't take it another step further: they cannot navigate from a piece of information there to somewhere else. If we had put the Bible notes and cross-references in it, they would also be "static." Instead, we chose to make these helps into separate reference tools. That means we can make the information "dynamic" through the use of hypertext links. Scroll over a reference there, it appears in the Instant Details box. Click it and it opens the reference text in another pane. We felt this would be more helpful for users over the long term. Hope this explanation helps! Yes, it does seem to make more sense all things considered. Stephen
