Brett K.
I think I already know the answer to this, but I'll post it anyway. I'm running the Accordance 9.0.3 updater. I have a symlink /Library/Application Support/Accordance pointing to ~/Library/Application Support/Accordance/. The installer doesn't seem to recognize the symlink. It gives me the message: A file named "Accordance" on "Macintosh HD" has the same name as a folder that needs to be installed. Click Cancel to stop the installation or click Delete to replace the file. I clicked Cancel because I assumed it would delete the symlink and create a new Accordance app support folder in /Library/Application Support/. I'm guessing the answer is, "Yes, that's what it's doing. Everything is supposed to live in the local domain." Since that is not an option for me, is there any other way to do the update without having to move folders back and forth? Thanks -- Brett
jpkang
You're not alone, judging by the number of times this has already come up in the last month! I believe that Joel Brown has said (in another forum thread) that it's on the to-do list for the installer to accommodate a wider range of installation configurations (including support for symlinks). Can you confirm, Joel?
Joel Brown
It is on the to-do list, but didn't make it into the 9.0.4 installer. An easier workaround is to temporarily rename the symlink in the local Application Support, then put the files added there in your user equivalent, then rename it back.
