Migrate Modules Error

Cedric Payne

Recommended Posts

Installed Acc9 and it worked fine. Tried to open today and got this error "An error occurred while Accordance was trying to migrate your modules to new location."

I tried removing the start up session from preferences, but this did not work.

Help Please.

Thank you.

Is it possible that you actually ran 8.4 until today? This error occurs the first time only, and is due to Accordance 9 being unable to migrate the Preferences folder from the Accordance folder. I would move the Accordance folder to Applications if it isn't there already. Then Get Info on the Accordance folder and reset the permissions to yourself to read and write, and use the menu at the bottom to apply the permissions to all enclosed items. That usually does the trick.

I am having this same problem and cannot get past it. I have enabled permissions as you mentioned, but I still get the same error message about migrating the modules. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

These are the standard replies that we've been sending:

If you get the message that Accordance was unable to migrate the files, the permissions of your Accordance Folder need to be modified. Go to the Accordance Folder "Get Info" window and make sure your permissions are set to Read & Write for your user. Click on the padlock in the bottom of the info window and then on the black gear and go to "Apply to Enclosed Items"

Once those permissions have been changed, move the Accordance folder to Applications (if it isn't there already) and launch Accordance from the Application that is now in your Applications Folder.

If you get the message that

An error has occurred while Accordance was trying to migrate your modules to a new location

Please check in /Library/Application Support/Accordance

If you see Accordance Preferences there, you just need to find the missing files. Accordance may have failed to move them because they were not in the Accordance folder, or because you do not have permission to change them.

You can look in any Accordance folders elsewhere on your Mac for these files and move them to /Library/Application Support/Accordance:

Atlas files folder

Time data

any files ending in words, roots, .info, .format, .syntax

Read Mes and Manuals & Documents (into a folder called Documents)

Text modules to Modules/Texts

Tool and Parallels modules to Modules/Tools

Almost always simply placing these files in position allows Accordance 9 to find them and run correctly.

If none of the above helps, please contact tech support and arrange to screenshare via Skype or iChat.
