Goto doesn't work

Hi,

NAS95S, search verses for 2 Chronicles 17 to go there. Open Goto, go to 2 Chronicles 20 for example, hit goto, but nothing happens.

It is a little odd I know, but as I understand it, 'Goto' works within the current search window. So if you've searched for 2 Chron 17, the search window contains only that chapter so a 'goto' chapter 20 does nothing. Goto is more helpful either if your search window contains the whole text, or if you've done a search on a word and want to navigate within that search results window.

This is one of those Accordance for Mac workflow ideas that we don't seem to have done a great job bringing over to Accordance for iOS.

Since Accordance is all about search, every display of content in the application is the display of a search result. Even the initial view that shows all of the text of a Bible is really a search result (Searching for the wildcard character '*' in Verses mode). The GoTo view is there to navigate those results. So if you only have a single verse in your search results, choosing other locations with the GoTo view doesn't move you.

For it to work the way you want it to, you can change the Context option from None to All. Then, regardless of what you search for and in what mode you are searching, the results will be displayed within the entire text of the module. Bookmark icons will appear to the right of every search result which you can jump between with the up/down arrows in the bottom toolbar. And the GoTo view will move you to any verse in the text.

Maybe a better default in Accordance for iOS is to have the Context option set to All for text search views. And then handle the case of the initial wildcard search to not Bookmark every verse.

Scott.

Ah thanks guys! How about just removing or graying out the books/verses/chapters that don't appear in the search results. That way it's clearer what you can do and what not.
