New capabilities in the export feature

I would like to request some new abilities for the citation export feature. Just to be clear, I am talking about the main export feature from within the program itself, not primarily the widget - although if these could be added to that as well it would be great!

I am new to Accordance, having been a BibleWorks user for years. There are many things I already like in Accordance, but I must admit that I think the export feature could use some major beefing up. In particular, I would like to see it add the following features, in descending order of importance:

1. The ability to save multiple different citation formats for different types of copying. For example, I copy from Accordance into Keynote for Sunday sermon presentations. In these, I am typically using a large font (42 point or greater) and want the reference citation below the text. However, I am also preparing notes for various handouts, and in these I typically use a 12 point font and place the reference before the text. It would be nice to have the ability to have several of these citation formats saved. Then I could just choose the one that I want for my present purposes.

2. The ability to have the verse numbers superscripted in the export. As it stands now, I have to manually superscript them if I want it to look like virtually every print Bible I have ever seen, and this is a waste of time.

3. The ability to designate a font to be used in export. I should be able to have it export in Times New Roman if that is the font in the document in which I am inserting text from Accordance, yet not have to change my font in Accordance to Times New Roman. (And I know I can use Command-Alt-Shift-V to get the font desired, but then I would lose superscripted verse numbers, which I want even more....)

4. The ability to select a color for the font (again different from the one in Accordance) would be nice. All of my fonts in Accordance tend to be dark (usually black), but in Keynote a dark background with a white font works better. It would be nice if Accordance could do that step for me.

5. If I do not have the book reference copied, Accordance inserts a couple of blank spaces before the verse begins. When I am pasting into Keynote, these have to be removed. It would be nice to tell Accordance to not insert these spaces.

The lack of these features do not prevent me from using the export. However, they do mean that I have to repeatedly do simple steps that could be done for me by Accordance.

Could any or all of these be part of a future update?

Thanks for creating a great program that helps people study, understand, and teach God

I just wanted to bump this again since I know there are updates coming out now. The copy feature could really use some of these updates. It really is one of the few weaknesses in a really excellent program - and it is a weakness in a major, very important, and often used feature of the program.

Thanks to all the Accordance staff for your hard work in helping others study God's Word.

In Christ,

I'll second these recommendations. I would like to see more robust copy and paste options available.

Bret,

Some of what you want to do in Keynote is already available. Instead of "pasting" what you copied from Accordance all you need to do is select "Paste and Match Style." Your copied text will now have the proper font style, size and color. I do this for over 200 "slides" every week.

David,

I am aware of that and do that every single week as well. It certainly helps. But when you paste to match style, you lose all superscripts for verse numbers. You then have to go in and manually superscript them. This is a hassle, and there is no reason to have to do it. I should be able to set the font (including size, point, and color) for export, have all verse numbers superscripted, and then have this paste directly into Keynote. Then a simple paste will give the text EXACTLY as I want it - with no editing needed. Like you, I do a LOT of exporting from Accordance into Pages and Keynote, so this is a VERY important feature, and it appears to me that it could use some major beefing up to bring it in line with the other features of Accordance - which are excellent and give the desired results without manual editing on the part of the user. (And I will admit that I am new to Accordance and am used to doing this from a Windows Bible program that had all of these features in its export tool - and many of them even worked under Parallels and importing into Keynote on the Mac.)

In Christ,

Bret
