J. William Johnston
I've been working lately with the ability to create links in user tools. You can create them with this kind of syntax: [GNT-T, W, agaph] which means "perform a word search in GNT-T on the word ἀγάπη" [bDAG, P, 512] which means "open BDAG to page 512" In the editor window, you select text like this above and then choose the "Make Link" button. You can also right click the search bar entry and choose "Copy as User Tool Link" and paste that into the user tool. Scripture reference links can be created using the same procedure. But the Scripture reference links appear as the text of the reference, while other sorts of links appear as the text in brackets. What I'd like to do is have some alternate text mechanism to make the links more elegant. For example, I might want to have the link [GNT-T, W, agaph] appear as ἀγαπάω, so that clicking on the word in the user tool would perform the appropriate search. In other words, I'd like some way (similar to the 'a href' tag in HTML; the user never sees the text inside that tag, only the display text of the hyperlink) to display text in the user tool that becomes a link. Helen Brown
We have, of course, wanted to do this, but ran into the problem that an invisible link in the Tool pane itself would no longer be editable in the Edit window. We have not yet found a good solution.
