Michael A. Eaton: A William Barclay Equivalent

Previous generations of preachers benefited from William Barclay's commentaries because they were exegetically sound and yet had ample illustrations and application for preachers. In my years of ministry I have not found a set that succeeds quite as well as Barclay in combining these features, that is, until now. I recently chanced upon the series 'Preaching through the Bible' by Michael A. Eaton. Eaton is an evangelical scholar and Baptist minister who has written a preaching commentary on almost every book on the NT. He wrote the Tyndale commentary on Ecclesiastes. I have found his commentaries to be quite exceptional. With this new series he does what Barclay did for his generation but with greater practicality and with a more conservative theological approach. He avoids verbosity and speaks simply. Some of the volumes in the series have been made available free of charge to the public but I would love to be able to see the complete series in Accordance. If I am not mistaken, no other electronic publisher offers it. The link for Eaton follows:
