By clicking on the little green radio button in the upper left, my Accordance window went full screen on a 24" monitor. Is there something else needed? Ken Simpson Posted August 25, 2012 Share Posted August 25, 2012 Hi Julie, Yes. Full-screen mode was introduced in Lion, and allow the app in question to completely fill and "own" the area of a space. There are no window bars etc, and I t gives just that extra little bit of space, specially for one with small screens, and a little less distraction, as there are no windows "behind" it. Most apple apps hace two little expan arrows on the top right corner of the title bar to allow you to access full screen mode. Having said that, I. Julia Falling Posted August 26, 2012 Share Posted August 26, 2012 Aahh - I had forgotten that, Ken, because I don't use it, not even when my MBP is not plugged into an external monitor. I like Dr J's podcasts going full-screen, but don't use it anywhere else but for an occasional video. I think the Accordance team has done such a good job of de-cluttering the app that I don't see the need. Perhaps those with 11" Airs might join in here. I am pretty sure I would never use except on my MBA. Nevertheless, I think it should be an option, but I have no idea about how hard or otherwise it would be to implement, or how soon! Yes, this is the point that others not using apps in full-screen won't see, that is spaces management. I've been using it with Sparrow and Safari lately, which is nice - unless I'm switching back and forth between the two a lot. That said, it's a request that has been heard, and is on the radar. rlapple Posted September 15, 2012 Share Posted September 15, 2012 Full screen mode has one very important aspect that makes it much more appealing. When an application is put into "full screen mode" you then have the option to scroll with 3 fingers to move between the apps that have been put into full screen. I leave mail in full screen and when I want to check it all I have to do is scroll 3 fingers to the left and presto! mail appears. If accordance had this feature then I could scroll to accordance AND mail..... I think you can have any number of apps open in full screen and just swipe between them. Desktop 1 is used for Safari, Mail, Newsfire – the stuff everyone uses, Desktop 2 is devoted to Accordance, Desktop 3 to Pages & Numbers, and Desktop 4 to Finale. That has worked really well for me. I use the three finger swipe to move between adjacent Desktops, App Expose for multiple windows/workspaces within a single app on a Desktop, and Mission Control to navigate to non-adjacent Desktops (or to choose another app in a Desktop where I have more than one app unhidden). I'm one of those who is driven crazy by windows stacked upon windows representing a bunch of different apps. Maybe because I already use the multiple Desktops, I haven't felt the need for full-screen mode. But I can also understand why others who work differently might want full-screen capability. One disadvantage, and a big one for me, is that in full-screen mode we cannot choose between multiple windows in the same app. I often have more than one Mail window open. I may want to refer back to an email sent to someone else when replying. I always, always have more than one Accordance workspace open. I would find having to constantly move into and out of full-screen cumbersome. But different people use their computers differently – one of the many reasons why I appreciate the customizability of Accordance. There is no right or wrong way to set up a workspace. I use multiple spaces/Desktops regularly, and Accordance is the one App that I have to leave on my main desktop. One challenge to creating a fullscreen option is defining how second workspaces would function in fullscreen mode. For example, if I edit my user notes, they pop up as a new window that I edit and then close - would that still work? Or if you create a new Workspace, should it automatically go to a new Fullscreen? Possible Workaround for now: You can easily create another Desktop in Expose view (starting in OS X Lion I think) by clicking the '+' that appears at the top right of Expose when you move your mouse there, then (still in Expose view) drag the Accordance window onto that new desktop. This way you can dedicate a desktop to multiple Accordance Workspaces without getting them tangled up in your Mail windows, etc. The downside to this is that you don't get any more visual real estate as many people have already mentioned.
