Exact phrase search in Greek

Our pastor preached out of Mt 22 this morning. Of course, I was sneaking a peak at the Greek on my iPad as he was reading and wondered about a prepositional phrase and its translation. It was επι το αυτο (Μτ 22:34). When I got home, I copied the phrase on my Mac, pasted it into a new tab with equal sign in front and did a search. Accordance wouldn't do it the way I set it up.

 

I ended up doing a successful Construct search and got 10 NT hits.

 

 

Why did my first search not work? I had a phrase copied directly out of the text and Accordance wouldn't do the search. I know I've probably overlooked something obvious. Is there a way to do such a search without a Greek Construct?

Put it in quotes. The equal sign tells Accordance to look for the inflected form of the word following the symbol. The program probably then asked for the lexical form for the remaining words, right?

 

Another option, instead of copying and pasting the phrase, would be to select the phrase and directly amplify it to a search of the desired text. That will enter the lemma of each word, which actually returns the same results in this case.

That's right, Jonathan. Tried it again the right way. Worked perfectly, and it's much quicker than a construct search. I really had a Duh moment there, didn't I? Thanks!
