Library Upgrades

Accordance Library 8 June 08

Each level of Library 8 is packed with additional material not available in previous versions of the Library. The new Library Collection comes on the Accordance Primary 8 DVD with a host of other materials available for unlocking. The unified Intel native installer simply asks you to enter the new codes you have (no need to scroll down long lists any more) and installs whichever modules and packages apply.

Notes:

• * “Value” refers to the cost of these modules if unlocked individually. “Print” value is an estimate of the cost of the same volumes in print without considering the additional value imparted by the tagging and markup of the electronic text.
• Choice of Bible unlocks applies to new purchases and add-on levels, not to upgrades from earlier versions.
• The upgrade to Accordance version 8 is included with a new purchase or upgrade of the Library 8. If you have paid separately for version 8 you will receive credit for that amount towards your upgrade.
• Old codes for individual modules usually still apply, but old levels or bundles should be upgraded. Otherwise you will not be able to reinstall the level from scratch from the DVD, nor to add the new modules included in it.
• The Primary 8 DVD requires OS X and a DVD reader. If your system does not meet these requirements, please order the CD-ROM set at checkout.

What's New in Library 8?

With respect to improving the existing levels of the Library, we chose to focus on adding up-to-date volumes of widely recognized value. The new Library 8 Introductory level therefore includes the New Living Translation, Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary, Life Application Study Bible, Experiencing God, and Experiencing God Day by Day, along with classic devotionals like F. B. Meyer's Daily Homily and Bagster's Daily Light on the Daily Path.

The new Library 8 Standard Level adds the English Standard Version with Strong's, along with the corresponding Greek Keys and Hebrew Keys dictionaries. The ESVS is a work in progress: the tagging of the New Testament is complete while the tagging of the Old Testament is still in the preliminary stages. Still, the ESVS now makes it possible to explore, search, and highlight the original Greek and Hebrew behind the ESV.

In addition to the ESVS, the Standard Level adds Renn's Expository Dictionary of Bible Words, The Bible Knowledge Commentary, and The Holman Book of Biblical Maps, Charts, and Reconstructions, along with Christianity and Ethics, A History of American Christianity, and Berkhof's Summary of Christian Doctrine.

The Premier level adds the Holman Christian Standard Bible, Keil & Delitzsch's 10-volume Commentary on the Old Testament, and Hendricksen's 18-volume New International Biblical Commentary on the New Testament. Also included in the Premier are selected works of John Owen, Andrew Murray, F. B. Meyer, and A. W. Pink.

What Was New in Library 7? Aug 06

Our biggest Library upgrade ever, the Library 7 CD-ROM featured more than 30 new modules, including the NET Bible with its extensive collection of notes, a gallery of classic artwork, Manners and Customs in the Bible, ISBE, additional commentaries and works of theology, and for the first time ever, a grammatically tagged Greek New Testament!

The Introductory Level added 13 new modules. The NET Bible is an excellent modern translation, and the NET Notes are like a study Bible, commentary, and introductory critical apparatus all rolled into one. Greek Parsing gives you extensive information about the Greek behind the King James Bible, and makes possible extremely powerful searches. Bible Art is a collection of art by the great masters depicting scenes from the Bible. Also included are Select Works of John Bunyan, Wace's Dictionary of Christian Biography, Sketches of Church History, Scougal's The Life of God in the Soul of Man, Spurgeon's Faith's Checkbook, Birds' Eye View of the the Bible, The Greatest English Classic: A Study of KJV, and the original translators' preface to the KJV. In addition, the KJVS has been updated with red letter and paragraph markers, and the Creeds module now includes the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. Finally, Beginning in Mark is an introductory guide to doing Bible study with Accordance.

The Standard Level added 24 new modules. In addition to the 13 new modules included in the Introductory Level, the Greek New Testament Textus Receptus tagged with Strong's numbers and the Spanish Bible La Biblia de las Americas have been moved to the Standard level from the Premier level. Manners and Customs in the Bible is a modern work which explores the historical background to many biblical narratives. New commentaries include Maclaren's Expositions, Charles Hodge on Ephesians, and Thomas Manton on James. Also included are systematic theologies by A. H. Strong and John Gill, select theological writings of Wesleyan theologian Adam Clarke, apologist William Paley's Evidences of Christianity, and tracts by famed textual critic Constantin von Tischendorf on the date and origins of the Gospels.

The Premier Level added 37 new modules. In addition to the 24 new modules included in the Introductory and Standard Levels, it includes the grammatically tagged Greek New Testament Textus Receptus, making possible incredibly powerful Greek searches. In depth scholarly works include the International Standard Biblical Encyclopedia and Philip Schaff's Creeds of Christendom. Also included are the works of Jonathan Edwards and Richard Baxter, Alfred Edersheim's Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah and Bible History Old Testament, Charles Finney's Lectures on Systematic Theology, Heinrich Schmid's Doctrinal Theology of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ramsay's St. Paul the Traveler and Roman Citizen, and Suetonius' Lives of the Twelve Caesars. Commentaries include the Catena Aurea, a patristic commentary on Matthew and Mark, along with Charles Spurgeon's Sermons on Proverbs. Finally, the St. Patrick module has been updated with a biography excerpted from J. A. Wylie's History of the Scottish nation.
