When I was in seminary, I had electronic access via the library's web portals to a variety of biblical studies journals including the Journal of Biblical Literature. With the click of a mouse (okay, quite a few clicks) I could pull up relevant articles related to the topic of study at hand (okay, I could pull up hundreds of articles and then wade through them to discover relevant ones). Now that I'm back in pastoral ministry and no longer a university student, I don't have the same access. Accordance takes searching journal articles to a whole new level. Because of Accordance's trademark fields search capabilities, I can search a total of fourteen different fields for hits ranging from Scripture references, article titles, authors, language fields (Greek, Hebrew, Coptic, Syriac, or Arabic), etc. I can even combine multiple fields into one search (up to five at a time) to unearth just the right article. Rather than wade through hundreds of potential articles, I can now zero in, with just a few clicks and keystrokes, on exactly the information I need.

Even if you are not a scholar, I recommend the Journal of Biblical Literature module from Accordance. As a pastor, I find the scholarly engagement challenging and thought provoking. Interacting with some of the best scholarship of the past twenty or so years broadens my understanding of, and appreciation for, Scripture.
