Post Tenebras Lux — “After darkness, light”

This Latin phrase found on the Reformation Wall in Geneva, Switzerland, encompasses the purpose of both the original 1560 Geneva Bible and the new Reformation Study Bible: to bring the light of Scripture to a darkened world. Today there is a constant assault on the integrity of Scripture, which has served to undermine people's confidence in the trustworthiness of the Bible. The Reformation Study Bible is a valuable tool in the defense of sound doctrine and clear understanding of the truth.

“The Reformation Study Bible contains a modern restatement of Reformation truth in its comments and theological notes. Its purpose is to present the light of the Reformation anew.”
R.C. Sproul

This Accordance module of the Reformation Study Bible Notes contains all the notes, commentary, and study content from the printed version of the Reformation Study Bible. More than 20,000 study notes, 96 theological articles, contributions from 50 evangelical scholars, 19 in-text maps, and 12 charts combine to make this one essential study Bible.  While this module does not contain the biblical text, it is formatted to run in parallel with any Accordance Bible translation.

The contributing scholars of The Reformation Study Bible have the highest academic credentials. Each is committed to the inerrancy of the Word of God and willingly submits to the authority of the Book they are trying to explain. The in-depth study notes included in The Reformation Study Bible were compiled from more than 50 distinguished biblical scholars, including Drs. J.I. Packer, James Boice, and Wayne Grudem. In addition, readers will appreciate book introductions, an extensive cross-reference system, plus illuminated words and terms within the Bible that are crucial to an in-depth understanding.

This unique study Bible was first published in 1995 as The New Geneva Study Bible in the New King James Version and was renamed The Reformation Study Bible in 1998. Since March 2005 The Reformation Study Bible has sold more than 100,000 copies. The distinctive attribute of this bible is in its extensive notes, charts and cross-references, including more than one hundred sidebars on the core doctrines of the Christian faith.

Yesterday, resulting from my own ignorance, I rated this module a 3. My concern was that I could not synchronize this module with other Bible modules, etc. Today I discovered that by going to the 'window' pull down tab and selecting 'set' that I could synchronize not only this module, but all others as well. Consequently, I would revise my rating of this module from a '3' to a '5'. It is a great tool. My apologies for my shortcomings; I'm learning.

I would rate this a 5 star with one very important exception; I assumed "The Reformation Study Bible" would in fact have the Bible text accompanying the other excellent resources. (formatted in a fashion indicated on the promo) . Either I have errored in downloading it or I do not know how to properly navigate the program. In any case I will make the best of my confused state.

[Response from Accordance: All our Study Bibles are just the Notes, so that they can be used with any version of the Bible.]
