This is a long awaited revision to the New American Bible. English-speaking US Catholics are familiar with it, as it forms the basis of the lectionary used at Mass (but they are not identical). The NAB was (and is) useful for all English readers as a formal equivalent translation. The Accordance database of the NAB was gradually revised to correct minor errors. The NABRE is a welcome improvement.

The NABRE is much enhanced relative to the NAB. The text is largely a revision to the OT. The layout is much nicer, rendering paragraphs and poetry, greatly improving readability.

The notes are improved, and show up in the instant details.

The price is very reasonable for the added value of the text and supporting notes. If you have the NAB, the upgrade price is a pittance (and you retain the NAB for comparison purposes).
