Computer
System Requirements
Accordance 9 comes in two versions: a Universal Binary version for Intel or PowerPC with OS 10.4 or above and a 68K version for Classic systems including 10.1-10.3.
The system requirements are therefore any Macintosh computer with O S X. A DVD reader drive is also required for the DVDs on which the latest versions of some files are distributed.
Accordance will also run on any older Macintosh with OS 7.5 or higher, a CD-ROM drive, and at least 16 megabytes of available memory.
Accordance can be run on a PC using an emulator. The emulator runs on Win95 through WinXP, Vista and Windows 7. For the Atlas 450MHz or faster is recommended.
Why Macintosh?
OakTree Software, Inc. is committed to producing software of the highest quality, software which offers unparalleled power and ease of use. We develop for the Macintosh because doing so enables us to make the most efficient use of our resources. The Mac is widely known for its ease of use, integration of hardware and software, and relative lack of support-related issues. These and other qualities make it easy for us to focus on developing Accordance into the most advanced Bible study program available.
Naturally, the best way for PC users to get access to Accordance is (dare we say it?) to upgrade to the Mac. Apple's immensely popular MacBook Air, MacBook, and PowerBook are stylish, powerful, easy to set-up and use, while their iMac and Intel desktop lines offer even more advantages. The Mac Mini is an affordable way to switch to Mac without purchasing a new monitor or keyboard. So if you haven't yet experienced the Macintosh advantage, there has never been a better time to start.

Emulator for Accordance on PC and Linux
That said, those who wish to use Accordance on a PC do have an option. Thanks to Tim Hegg we now have several years of experience with the BasiliskII Emulator which lets Windows (and Linux) users run software on the older 68K system with Mac OS 7.5. Tim assembled installers that include the emulator and all the other software and instructions that allow Accordance to run on a PC. Note that it does not run in Windows, but alongside Windows in a Mac emulator.
See the Emulator webpage on this site for information on how to obtain and run BasiliskII on PC. For the Linux emulator, please contact us directly.
OS X (ten), the exciting new operating system for the Macintosh, is steadily gaining in popularity. We are pleased and proud to announce that Accordance was among the earlier software programs to be released in an OS X native version (Nov.2002). Here are answers to some common questions.
Q: Does Accordance run in Snow Leopard (OS 10.6)?
A: Accordance 9 is optimized for OS 10.6. We are always working to incorporate even more of the special features of OS X.
Q: Will Accordance work on the new Macs with Intel chips?
A: Yes, Accordance 8 and 9 are native to Intel.
Q: Universal Binary, Rosetta, Carbon, Cocoa, or Classic?
A: OS X runs several kinds of software applications. Both Cocoa and Carbon PowerPC applications run on OS X, including the new MacIntel hardware. Universal Binary applications run natively on both PowerPC (with 10.4 and up) and Intel hardware.
Older PowerPC applications, including Accordance 7, will run on Intel hardware by means of the Rosetta emulator.
Macintosh Classic applications will run on pre-OS X systems and in emulation in OS X up to 10.4 (Tiger), but are not supported in new MacIntel hardware.
Accordance 8 is a Universal Binary Carbon application, but is also installed as a PowerPC version on OS 10.3, and a 68K version in Classic systems.
Therefore the current Accordance application runs well on all current Mac OS X computers, including the new MacIntel hardware. We also maintain compatibility with older Mac systems.
Q: If I own CD-ROMs with earlier versions, can I run the modules in OS X?
A: Yes, all older modules integrate perfectly with the new version and modules. If you currently have an older version, everything you have in Accordance will run in OS X provided you have one of the new versions. There are also CD-ROM upgrades available for almost all the older products, with new installers and corrected or upgraded contents.
