Installing with Version 9
October 2011
Each new Mac system creates new challenges for our installers, and we are constantly upgrading both Accordance and the installers. These instructions are intended to summarize the best way to install Accordance 9 for the first time or as an upgrade. If you have any problems, please contact us.
If you have not purchased Accordance 9, see Installing old CD-ROMs for instructions.
Mac OS 1.7 Lion has added additional issues. The instructions below still apply except that:
Most Accordance products are now installed by download through Easy Install in the Accordance menu once you have Accordance 9 running.
First Time User -- Easy Install
Previous Accordance User (Version 7 through 8.4)
Note: if you now use version 1 through 6 of Accordance, please ask for the free upgrade to version 8 BEFORE attempting to upgrade to version 9.
For details or any issues with the upgrade, see Notes on 9.
First Time User -- DVD or CD-ROM
If your first purchase of version 9 is on a disk, follow the instructions in the installer.
Primary 9 DVD Instructions for Mac OS 10.4 and up.
Other Version 9 Disks for Mac OS 10.4 and up.
Installing Older CD-ROMs and DVDs
If you have not yet installed version 9, but have several older disks as well, you can choose this method.
- Identify the version number printed on each disk.
- Run the installer on each disk starting with the version 5.7 and up to version 8.
- Run the latest version of Accordance 7 or 8 before running version 9.
- Run the version 9 installer on each new DVD or CD. Run Accordance 9 after the first installation, and then again at the end.
See Installing old CD-ROMs for details.
If you have already installed Accordance version 9:
For any Accordance CD-ROM with version earlier than 6.9: Please do a manual install of the modules from these older CD-ROMs. Do NOT use the installer on the disk nor a downloaded installer.
- Place the CD-ROM in the disk drive and open it on the desktop.
- With Accordance 9.5 and up you can simply double-click on each module you own on the disk. If you have ever logged in to Easy Install, Accordance will attempt to verify your ownership, copy the module to the correct location, and add it to Accordance. If verification fails, you may be asked for an unlock code. Contact Support if you do not have the code.
- See individual instructions.
For any Accordance DVD or CD-ROM with version 7.0 to 8.4 (not v.9) except Graphics DVD with 7.4.2 (on Lion any disk with version 8, or Anchor version 2, or Church Fathers 3):
You can do a manual install as above or run the installer:
- Insert the disk into drive and click to open on the desktop.
- Select and run the Installer, you will need to enter your own admin. code to verify the installer.
- When you get to the install page, select the packages and/or modules to install, click Install, and enter any requested codes.
- Check that the new Accordance folder is in Applications next to Accordance 9, and if not move it there from the Hard Drive.
- Quit and reopen Accordance 9. It will find the Accordance folder, move and add any newly installed modules, and put the Accordance folder in the trash.
EXCEPTION -- Graphics DVD with 9.4.2:
- Follow above installation instructions but DO NOT run Accordance 9.
- Open two Finder windows: Application Support/Accordance and Applications/Accordance folder.
- Move the following files from the Accordance folder in Applications to the Accordance folder found in your Hard Drive (or User) Library/Application Support folder: Atlas files (a folder), Time data, Map Settings, Timeline settings, User Items, User Layers.
- Run Accordance 9. Open a map window, select a portion and open the 3D. It will ask you to navigate to Altitude data in Atlas files, and select it.
Manual Install: Adding the Texts and Tools
These instructions are for older disks which are NOT available for Easy Install. If you have any other older disk it is best to update the product and use Easy Install. See above instructions for copying and opening the modules. This table tells you which modules to open and where they will be copied to..
