Tip: Preview your Favorite Commentary
Since this month is currently the best time to stock up on major commentaries, I thought I'd share a few tips for getting the most out of them. Here's the first:
If you hold the command key down while hovering over a word in an English Bible with Strong's numbers or a grammatically-tagged Greek or Hebrew text, the entry for that word in your favorite Greek or Hebrew lexicon will be displayed in the Instant Details box. It's like an instant preview of what you would get if you triple-clicked the word. Did you know the same trick works for Scripture references? If you hover over the reference of a verse and hold the command key down, you'll see the comment on that verse in your default commentary. Again, it's an instant preview of what you would get if you triple-clicked the verse reference.
If you see a preview of comments you want to explore further, simply let go of the command key and triple-click the verse reference. Your default commentary will then open to that reference in its own tab.
Using this approach enables you to keep your favorite commentary in the background while still keeping it readily accessible.
