Waltke's theology is the result of decades of reflection informed by an extensive knowledge of the Hebrew language and thorough critical scholarship. He shows that the unifying theme of the Old Testament is the "breaking in of the kingdom of God," and he discusses how this theme helps readers better understand the continuity of the entire Bible.
Thielman presents a theology of the New Testament that is careful to take into account the cultural and historical circumstances surrounding each book of the New Testament. Thielman applies a canonical and synthetic approach that examines each book's theological content individually, and also in relation to the rest of the New Testament.
Scot McKnight calls Christians to stop taming the Bible like a pet bird in this thought-provoking work. McKnight invites us to read the Bible in a way that leads beyond old debates and denominational battles, allowing it to speak anew for a new generation.
The King Jesus Gospel addresses concerns that contemporary evangelicals have built a 'salvation culture' but not a 'gospel culture.' McKnight makes a plea for Christians to recover the old gospel, drawing from the Four Gospels, the gospel preached by Jesus, the sermons in the Book of Acts, and the gospel as defined by the Apostles in 1 Corinthians 15.
