Accordance’s newest app, Accordance Mobile for Android, continues to develop into the serious Bible study and research tool that Accordance users know and love. With Accordance Mobile for Android version 1.4, you can now add highlights in your Text and Tool modules from your Android mobile device. Support for Dropbox Syncing has also been added, which means you can use your Android device to view and edit your existing highlights, and the highlights you make on Android will also appear in Accordance on all of your other platforms. Improvements to the Library include one of the most highly requested features by Accordance Mobile for Android users: the ability to re-order your Library.
Now you can add and remove highlights on your Android device. When you select text to highlight, a Highlight Chooser displays all highlight styles in your current highlights file, including a visual preview of each style. Looking to add symbol highlights like a cross or a dove? Just select the Symbols toggle button in the Highlight Chooser to see your options. One of the core features of Accordance highlighting is the ability to create multiple highlights files. Maybe you have a “Syntax” file for prepositions and participles, a “Narrative Analysis” file for plot elements and setting changes, and a “Primary” file for general highlights. However you choose to organize your highlights, they are all now available to you on Accordance Mobile for Android.
Since Accordance Mobile for Android now supports Dropbox Syncing, all of your existing highlights will be instantly available on your Android app, and any highlights you add in the app will be synced back to all of your other Accordance apps. Just press the app menu icon and “Sync Dropbox” to get started.
Major Improvements to the Library
The latest version also brings tremendous improvements to the Library. You can now re-order your modules. No more scrolling through a list of forty Bible translations to find that one you just installed. Just drag it to the top of your list. The Library also includes cover art, uses full module titles instead of abbreviations (e.g., “Brenton English Septuagint” instead of “LXX-B”), uses modern folder icons, and automatically displays in a dark mode version if you have Night Mode enabled in the app.
Version 1.4 also includes dozens of bug fixes and stability improvements. For more information on how to take advantage of the latest improvements, see the list of changes in the Accordance for Android help files.
PS: Version 1.4.2 added parsing information in Instant Details for Key number texts, if a grammatically tagged text is installed.
Accordance 12.2.9 (Windows/macOS)
This update brings major improvements for importing User Notes from BibleWorks. This includes better matching for Hebrew characters, importing single Book folders of User Notes, and more. There are also minor updates related to Unicode, Simple Constructs, User Bibles, User Tools, and localizations.
Update your installation of Accordance 12 by selecting App Update on the Utilities menu (Windows) or the Accordance menu (macOS).
Update: Accordance 12.2.9 is also now available in the Mac App Store.
Accordance Mobile 1.2 for Android
Accordance Mobile 1.2 for Android smartphones and tablets introduces a number of new enhancements, especially relating to text selection, copying text, and support for audio playback!
Tap and hold text for Instant Details and the ability to copy your selection. Any content with embedded or streaming audio can now be played from within the Accordance Mobile app. We've also added a number of other features such as support for PaleoHebrew, the choice of whether or not to include footnote markers or Hebrew cantillation when copying text, the ability to display more Accordance titles than before, and more.
Update Accordance Mobile for Android Version 1.2 from the Google Play Store or the Amazon Appstore for Android. It can also be downloaded directly from our server but will need to be updated manually.
Accordance Mobile 2.7.2 for iOS
Accordance Mobile v. 2.7.2 for iOS delivers a number of fixes, updates, and improvements, especially to Paper documents imported from Accordance on Windows and Mac.
Now there is much better support for selecting view options in Paper documents to display explanations, contents, endnotes, and bibliographical information. Tap on footnote or endnote indicators to see destination content in Instant Details. From there, choose to go to that content or amplify. External links in Paper documents can be displayed in Instant Details.
Other improvements to Paper documents include better handling of bibliographic hyperlinks to titles not present on the device. Ibid entries distinguish between page and paragraph numbers and properly support Unicode localization. Even better, Paper Display options now update immediately on iPads.
Besides the above improvements to Paper documents, there are updates to popovers on landscape iPhones and better handling of formatting for original languages in User Notes.
Accordance Mobile for iOS can be updated in the App Store.
Accordance Mobile is now available for Android. We are very pleased to announce we now support the Android platform (5.0 and later), as well as MacOS, Windows, and iOS platforms. When we released Accordance Mobile for Android v. 1.0 back in February, we knew it didn’t yet have all the regular features Accordance users have come to expect, but we didn’t want to delay it even one more day. At that time we promised that certain features would be added soon in an upcoming update. Well, today is the day we are releasing Accordance Mobile for Android v. 1.1 in the Google Play Store and Amazon Appstore for Android with the essential features we’ve all been waiting for!
There are three main new features in Accordance Mobile for Android v. 1.1. First up, Instant Details. Tap and hold a word in any Keyed or Tagged text to get more information about that word and how it’s used. Second, Hypertext links. Now there are visual indicators hyperlinks to Scripture references, footnotes, and more. Tapping on these links will either show you more information or take you to further information. Third, Picture thumbnails. Tapping on images will take you to an internal or Android picture viewer.
There are also quite a few other changes, so you’ll want to check out the complete list in the Android section of the Accordance Forums. And just know that when it comes to Android, we’re just getting started! We have lots of upcoming features in the pipeline for our Android version of Accordance that we can’t wait to show you in the days and weeks to come.

Please feel free to ask questions and post feedback on our Android Forums.
Over the past year or so, nearly every day I've responded to Accordance users on our forums, our various social media venues or in private messages and conversations asking me when our long-promised Android version of Accordance Mobile will be ready. While our Android version has taken longer than we had hoped, along the way, many have asked if we could even release just a reader for Android so that Accordance users could have access to their Accordance Library on their favorite non-Apple mobile phones and tablets.
Of course, we’re not satisfied simply to release a reader for Android; but rather than ask our users to wait even one day longer, we have now released our Accordance Mobile Android Open Beta! Although this release of Accordance Mobile for Android is an early beta release, it is definitely more than just a reader. As described in the Accordance User Forums yesterday, this 1.0 beta release comes with the following Major features:
- Display of Texts
- Searching of Texts
- Grammatical and Key Number searching of Texts
- Split Panes for Texts, showing a Text or Reference Tool
- Display of Tools
- Searching of Tools
- Easy Install
- Library Access to files
- Text and Tool Display choices
- Goto interface, via a grid or list
Of course, not everything is in place yet. In version 1.1 of the beta, we plan to add the following features:
- Selection of text
- Instant Details
- User Notes
Now, you’re free to hold out for the final, non-beta release of Accordance Mobile for Android, which will be available sometime in 2018; but if you don’t want to wait any longer, we’d love to have you help us out! Go to Joel Brown’s forum post from yesterday, “Welcome to the Android Open Beta!” to download the current build. New builds will be posted in the Android Open Beta forum, so check back often.
Just remember that this is beta software. That means not everything will work yet, there will be bugs, and there will be crashes. But you can help us speed development along by posting any issues you encounter in our Android Open Beta forum as well as any suggestions and constructive criticism.
Mac, iOS, Windows, and Android. Now you can truly take Accordance with you wherever you want to go!
