Remembering R. C. Sproul (1939 - 2017)

R C Sproul In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season at the end of last year, most of the secular world missed the passing of one of the great Christian thinkers of our time: Robert Charles Sproul—known by most from his initials, “R. C.” The word “thinker” is used in the previous sentence because Sproul wore many descriptive hats, including pastor, writer, theologian, radio personality, ministry founder, professor, academic dean, and more. None of these titles fully encompass who Sproul was and how he will be remembered; but needless to say, his impact will continue to be felt generations from now.

Comfortable in the church or the classroom, as a conference speaker or Christian radio teacher, R. C. Sproul had a talent for taking complex theological topics away from mere academic discussions and disseminating them at a level understood by the average person. Not only did Sproul decipher theology and the more difficult teachings in the Bible for a larger audience, he also had a knack for showing why these subjects were relevant in today’s world. Known especially for popularizing Calvinism, Sproul’s decades of teaching, preaching, and writing made him one of the chief architects behind the revival of Reformed theology popular in the Western Church today.

In his lifetime, Sproul penned over 70 books. We have a number of his most important works available for the Accordance Bible Software Library including the following:

All of the works are tagged with links to each other (and other articles and tools available in Accordance), making navigation from one work to the other seamless. This is where all of our work on this project really shines through. As a former student of Dr. Frame, I tried to imagine what would make class and study of his works more streamlined. For example, in the Lecture Outline for Doctrine of God, we've added links to each of the chapters. In the Study Questions for Doctrine of God, we added links to the specific page numbers where the answers are found. In addition, there are links to the various confessions and catechisms, dictionaries, theological works, websites and journals that Frame cites, or which also contain his works. Below are a series of images which represent this…
