Renaming User Notes file

Recommended Posts

Hey —

It looks like my User Notes (and Highlights) now reside in my Dropbox. Is that right? I would like to rename the file. Am I still able to do this without messing everything up?

I would also like to have back-ups of notes and highlights on the drive on my computer. (Sorry, just a bit paranoid — I've put a lot of work into them.) Is that possible? The file icons look different.

Thanks

P.S. I'm not having any problems with anything. Not with Easy Install, Content Updates, or syncing with Dropbox on the Mac, iPad, or iPhone. I don't know why I'm not having problems. I suspect those who are aren't doing anything differently from what I am.

When you are linked to Dropbox, I think the best way to rename a User Note/Highlight is to log into your Dropbox account at DropBox.com and rename the file. Accordance has a folder at DropBox/Apps/Accordance. After you navigate to the appropriate folder, rename the file, and sync with Accordance. Accordance will "uninstall" the old file, and install the newly renamed one. NOTE: the old file will remain in your local Accordance Files folder.

While you are on the Dropbox website, right click on one of your User Note files and select "Previous versions". You will see all of the previous versions of this file. You can then select one of these version and restore the previous copy.

There is nothing paranoid about backing up the Accordance Files folder too, but DropBox is also backing up these files (and provides an interface to restore previous copies)
