shanecgriffin
My question should be simple... I think. How can I use both greek and english in the same search. For instance, how could I search for "sarx" in the GNT for instances where it is not translated "flesh" in the ESV. Also, if anyone happens to have the answer, is it possible to print the LXX & BHS side by side (assuming other copyright issues are legal) on one sheet for studying, similar to other polyglot documents? Thanks Shane
Douglas Fyfe
I don't think it's possible to do a search of two different texts at once. What you may be able to do is search for Strong's numbers and words though in the construct window. So search for whatever the strong's number for sarx is, and search for it not being translated flesh. I'll have a try and get back to you!
Douglas Fyfe
ok yep that was it. 25 times it turns out! into a SIMPLE CONSTRUCT window drag in KEY and enter G4561 (sarx) then drag underneath WORD and enter flesh. then drag NOT on top of WORD and voila, in your linked ESVS text you should have all 25 hits. hope it worked for you too! Douglas Fyfe
on printing, yep, with both your MT and LXX visible you just need to go to print settings and click 'print all panes'.
shanecgriffin
thank you on both ends. I am amazed at how easy it is to print both panels. That is perfect! thanks again, shane
Ken Simpson
The construct way is an elegant way to do it, but you can also do the same thing in the search bar... with ESVS as your search text... [KEY G4561]@-(flesh) Looks for all instances of G4561 which is Gk σάρξ and then says the word translated must not be "flesh" So we aren't using the GNT in the search, we are using Strong's numbers. Douglas Fyfe
nice Ken! I've just been mucking around with constructs the last few days, but yep, that is a lot easier!
