I am not sure if this is intended but it happens on both Windows and Mac.
When I open a parallel - say ESVS and then open the ESV Study Bible in parallel - the parallel always opens in horizontal mode. I tend to prefer vertical and thought I had it opening that way normally. In any case I try to switch with the little icon and what happens is that it stays in horizontal but the font size icons, gear wheel icon and module name pulldown move to the left of each text. And hitting the switch orientation icon only switches the menu bar items back and forth each time. The only way I can get vertical orientation is to drag one of the panes to the side. At that point then the switch orientation button begins to work as normal. But when in horizontal the menu items are to the left only. And I am not able to drag from vertical to horizontal arrangement.
I'm pretty sure this worked differently in the past but perhaps I am wrong.
Here is a sequence of screen shots to illustrate. Perhaps someone can comment on whether this is normal or is a recent change or ...?
Open ESVS and ESV SB in parallel.
