Vocabulary Tool

Recommended Posts

Today I was sitting in Hebrew class and my teacher told us that our next vocab quiz would be over the vocabulary in Ruth 1. My friend next to me opened up his Bibleworks 7.0 program and put together his vocab list and made flash cards all in a matter of a few clicks. I was amazed!

Now, I was able to put together the list of words and all, but nothing as smooth or as extensive as my friend with Bibleworks. Now this could be my lack of know how with Accordance or I am correct in posting this in the Feature request spot!

Please help us students out Helen!

Oh, and as a sidenote, I thought there used to be something where you could build a list to quiz your self with Accordance...did that go away or am I thinking of something else?

We are planning to do flash cards, but it has been postponed for now. I don't think I can help you here now.

I suspect you're thinking of the tool I made about 3 years ago called Flashcord. I haven't touched it in a couple years, but it still works. Here is the latest version, with some quirky features.

That tool is amazing, Joe. Thanks for posting that link. I now see how much work I have to do on my Hebrew vocab...

It is a pretty cool program. However, I don't advertise it or anything, cause the more folks know about it, the more I get requests to add/change things. :)

Frankly, I never finished testing it after I added Hebrew support, so I hope it's working for ya.

Joe, it works great for me with Hebrew! I like the simplicity of it, too. Straightforward, focused on learning the words, excellent. I let my former Hebrew prof at Master's know about it, so I hope you don't get a deluge of requests for new features!

I use iFlash. http://www.loopware.com/iflash/

This is a quality program.

It supports Greek and Hebrew fonts.

You can add the sound of someone saying the word, a picture, etc.

You can have as many sides to a card as you would like.

I have a few decks with a lot of Hebrew Vocabulary already in them at http://www.rgmurray.com/Hebrew%20Helps.html

I also use iFlash, but I have had trouble using TekniaHebrew as the font.

How do you enter the Hebrew? That is, when I change my keyboard to the "Hebrew-QWERTY" layout, it defaults to Lucida Grande and not TekniaHebrew.

Do you enter the text right-to-left using the U.S. keyboard layout (hence, having to type the word "backward")?
