I find that user tools are extremely useful.

I was wondering, is there an absolute limit to the size of a user tool and/or is the a size that if you go above you lose efficiency.

I don't know if there is a size limit, but I do know that the user tools were not made for extended works but for smaller tools. Helen Brown wrote in another thread, "The User Tool import and feature is simply not designed for such massive modules. It's intended for articles, sermons and such." One user was trying to import a 157MB file, and that simply is too large and outside the scope and intention of the user tools. You can view the entire thread here.
