rcdeacon
As an avid note maker (and highlighter) the current setup is the ability to attach a note only to a verse. I would like the capability to attach a note to 1. A book (or epistle), 2. A chapter, 3. A specific word, 4. I also would like to be able to attach a note to a series of verses (a paragraph or some other possible grouping i.e. theme). The icon indicating a note needs to be placed where the note resides (if it is a book note the icon would be at the very beginning of the book, if it is a word note the icon would be placed next to the word and so forth. I do realize that this requires extensive programming work but from a user's perspective these capabilities can be very valuable and at least for me greatly enhance my studies and speed up retrieval of previously entered personal information. Julia Falling
Bob – I'm already doing this. If I want to make a note for an entire book (or Testament), I just put it out in from of, say, Ephesians 1:1. I might have to scroll backwards to read it, but it will be there. I also add notes for a range of verses the same way, with notes on the individual verses below it, just as we would see in a commentary. It's not perfect, but it gets the info I want to be able to retrieve where I know to find it. So we do have work-arounds that we can use now.
rcdeacon
Thank you Julie. I am also doing some work around but I am simply requesting something more formal (without a work around) for the program. I did notice that some books (depending on translation I think) or chapters have a 0:0 verse in the beginning (I may be wrong about this). If each book had a 0:0 verse in the beginning (Ephesians 0:0, Genesis 0:0 etc.) that would be the place for book notes, likewise chapters would have 1:0 or 2:0 etc and you could attach a chapter note there. I have gone into the notes and added a hyphen to include a series of verses to add a note to a series of verses. The downside of that is when you want to simply place a note to a single verse (especially if it is the first verse in the series) in that group there can be difficulties. I am not trying to be picky but this would be a valuable addition to a wonderful program IMHO. Bob
Julia Falling
I agree that it would be nice to have more options. The work-around has its drawbacks, as you have mentioned. I suspect that 0:0 or 1:0, etc., would have to be present in all texts for the note to show up. If I do a search for Mt 17 in the ESVS, the note I have added for Mt 17:21 doesn't show up. If I do the same search but use NAS95 as my search text it does, because the NAS95 has the verse, but in brackets. Including some of the features we would like might require a huge overhaul not only of the Notes, but also of the texts, but I'm no programmer and am only guessing. I hope one of the programmers will see this and give his perspective.

rcdeacon
Julie, you are correct about each translation needing to have a 0:0 or 1:0 added. This change would require a lot of work but would be immensely helpful to many I would think. Bob
Abram K-J
Assuming it's feasible for the programmers to pull off, I think the idea of book notes (0:0) and chapter notes (1:0, 2:0) is a great one! I'd use it regularly.
