PhilT
Could anyone suggest a good Atlas. I have the Acordance Atlas and the Atlas from the IVP Essentials set. What I am looking for if its availble, is historical reconstruction of Jericho, before and at the time of its demise in Joshua 6. Does the Sacred Bridge have this sort of information available in it; or any of the Carta modules? Thanks in advance Leaving you in God's Care and Grace
Tony Lawrence
Hi Phil, The short answer to your question (as far as I have been able to find) is no. When I teach about Jericho I am always looking for the right graphics. Here are three pages that I found on the web that help me show the walls: 1. http://www.foundationsforfreedom.net/References/OT/Historical/Joshua/Joshua06-12/Joshua06-b_1_Life-Problems.html 2. http://bible-translation.net/issue/october-2013/article/customs-and-cultures-of-bible-times 3. http://bible-translation.net/page/the-walls-of-jericho I frequently use images.google.com and usually have found it necessary to add Bible to the search terms so as to not get as many stray images. That being said, I do not want to minimize the value of the images in many of the Accordance modules, including Sacred Bridge. If you have not already done so, choose "New" then "Search All" from the File Menu, then drop down the blue "English" to "image" and type in your term. It will give you all the images in all your modules.
Λύχνις Δαν
Hi Phil, I just had a quick look but I cannot see anything like a map of Jericho at that time. There are some things about the Tell es-Sultan ( I believe that's the one) but nothing like a map or model of how it may have looked in Sacred Bridge. Thx D
David Lang
The ESV Study Bible has a basic reconstruction of Jericho under the note on Joshua 6:1.
