The Shanghai Syndrome

The following bug seems to be in Accordance:

One is selecting commentaries, one after the other to elucidate a passage (for example John 15), but then one clicks on a commentary set which lacks John (e.g., NIGTC). Instead of a screen popping up which says, "John is lacking from NIGTC" [or "click here to purchase NIGTC John], the program takes one to an irrelevant page (e.g., commentary on Luke). Then one finds that one's original pane on John 15 has also been shanghaied to somewhere else (perhaps e.g., Luke). Then one tries clicking on the search window, which still has John 15 in it, but the program goes nowhere, until one erases part of John 15 and types it in again and does enter again.

It would be helpful to know exactly how you are bringing up the commentary set. There are ways around this but may involve you changing how you get to the commentary passages. I suspect you are bringing them up in a parallel pane in which case you will get this kind of effect because if something is in parallel the one you move will automatically affect the other.

If you amplify from the text to a workspace with the commentary sets you are interested in then you can have all the relevant commentaries opened and you can look at then one at a time. It will then not affect your original text. If I amplify from john 15:1 to my commentaries workspace the NIGTC commentary shows a blank page but other commentaries display John 15.

If you want some more information on this let me know.

Enoch: just a little word in your ear that we have a new feature coming that will make it much easier to see which commentaries are relevant to the passage in hand. I think you will like it. Please don't tell anyone.

That "feature" has been bugging me too.
