64 Bit?

Is Accordance 11 64 Bit or is it still 32 Bit?

While Logos 6 did go 64 Bit (good thing especially for its hefty indexer), Accordance 11 still beats it in terms of the fastest application that launches and searches!

Yeah, and on a laptop Accordance consumes much less battery!

Accordance is a 32bit program. If you ever wonder, on a Mac you can open up Activity Monitor and see. If you don't see the column "Kind," just go to View -> Columns and select it. I believe there is a similar option in Window's Task Manager.

Accordance is already so fast and powerful at 32 bit, I can only imagine a 64 bit version would become self-aware and take over the world (in a good and benevolent way, not a Skynet way, of course).

Thanks for the info! Hee hee, Rick. True! Thanks for the tip Graham as well. Stacking L6 and A11 together, even with L6 being 64 Bit, A11 is still the speed king! It's always the app I go to when I need the fastest Bible search, period.

Just to clear up any confusion, 64-bit only helps with speed if doing massive, massive, overwhelmingly massive computation. The vast majority of 64-bit apps would run identically fast in a 32-bit system, including Accordance. This doesn't mean, of course, that Accordance isn't working towards 64-bit, but the result is more to maintain its compatibility with computing hardware than actually needing the address space, and certainly not for speed.

True, and even at 32 Bit, it's still a speed king. I can see Accordance going 64 bit in the future so it can take advantage of the extra RAM for hefty hefty stuff (and since 64 Bit is the future), but I don't think anyone can complain of Accordance's speed as it is. :-)

  • 2 years later...

It seems iOS 11 will allow only 64bit Apps.

I think this restriction will come on the Mac too in the future and since Accordance is the only one App on my Mac with 32bit, this can come faster than the developers want. But maybe in 12.1 will Accordance be in full unicode and 64bit?
