Missing letters at the end of a line

Hey –

This was posted in another location, but it may need to be here instead.

I'm missing letters at the end of the line. This problem persists, but only in the NAS95, as far as I can tell. It occurs only in some locations — Ps 119:17, 33, 41, 49, 65, 73, 81. It may be other places, too. Seems to be a formatting error with just this version?

I'm not able to replicate that. I assume you've tried restarting. What about changing fonts?

I wasn't able to replicate this before and still can't. Have you tried recreating the workspace? Does it happen with a brand-new workspace?

Rick – This was happening last week, too. I've rebooted multiple times since then. I subbed other texts in the same pane and did not see the problem. I tried Times New Roman @ 16. It was not a problem in most of the verses, but I was missing all but the first downstroke of 'me' in Ps 119: 73, most of the e in come in Ps 119:41. It only happens on the first lines.

Jonathan – Your post came up as I was typing this one. This is a long-used workspace, saved and re-saved. I'll try recreating it after I've read my Bible and post back, probably tomorrow. We've had a really long day – a really long week – exhausted seems to be an inadequate description of our condition.

I thought so. I've had issues at times with workspaces saved repeatedly over multiple version updates. Sometimes those issues just disappear after recreating the workspace, so I'll be curious to see if that happens for you too.

I went ahead and recreated the workspace. The problem is not font-specific, though it may be a combination of font-width + pane width + formatting. It seems to be version-specific. It seems only to occur in the first line of a paragraph. Here's a shot of the entire workspace. It's on a 24" monitor. (I've got a 27" coming as an early birthday-Christmas gift – there are some advantages of having a birthday on December 23).

Look at the difference in the formatting for the three English versions. And for some reason, in the NAS95, the word doesn't go to the next line if there's no room for it on the first line – it just gets cut off.

If someone would duplicate this, I'd at least know if it's just me. I really don't think it is. Just stumbled on the right combination of factors to mess up the display?

I created this workspace (with my notes and the IVP New Bible Commentary instead of EBC) but couldn't recreate the problem. However, I'm doing this on a 13" laptop, so the spacing is all different no matter how much I add/remove texts or change font size. Sorry this isn't much help.

Hi Julie,

I tried. I cannot repro. this behaviour on Mac Mavericks with 11.0. On a 27" iMac

I played with the font just a little, I tried changing the background, I added parallel after parallel. It all formatted neatly.

One thing I cannot repro. in your display apart from the problem, is the verse refs. I get Psa xxx.x rather than Ps xxx.x. I don't know how you got that. It will affect the amount of material to render in the line so I'm curious how you set that up.

Thx

D

I'm in Yosemite. Wonder if that would make a difference? Very odd. Wonder if resolution makes a difference? On this monitor I have 1920 x 1080. Could you try changing your resolution on you iMac and seeing what happens?

Thanks.

EDIT: Reducing your window size to 24" diagonal = 21" x 12".

Hi Julie,

Tried lower resolution and smaller window size. Still cannot repro. it.

Still cannot get the shorter form of verse abbreviation either.

Hmmm.....

Thx

D

This is a long known intermittent bug that depends on the font and size. We have not been able to track it down, but a slight change in the display settings should eliminate it.

Thanks, Helen. I figured it couldn't be just me because everything else is working. Basically, I need a font change?

Julie - good news, we reproduced the problem, which means we can likely fix it. Thanks for your persistence!

That is good news, but it means more work for you. Sorry about that part.
