cliff
I would love to see Accordance utilize bestcommentaries.com's database for prioritizing commentaries in the info pane independent from our personal Library order... maybe as an an option in Accordance preferences. BestCommentaries.com has a library list based on John Glenn's book, Commentary and Reference Survey. In addition, they have recommended lists from Denver Seminary, John Piper, and others for both OT and NT (see http://bestcommentaries.com/libraries/). Ultimately, it would be nice to have the option to create custom libraries (maybe toggle switches between "Technical", "Expository", etc...) by porting in a list/database w/out having to touch our Accordance Library. The added advantage to this approach is the commentaries seen in the Info Pane would be prioritized by book of the Bible and not by Commentary Set based on the user's preference. cliff
As an example of what I mentioned above, if I were studying any book of the Bible, I would like to see the commentaries switch according to the priority I set by book. See table below. New Testament Books Matthew EBC NAC PNTC Mark NIC NIGTC PNTC Luke BECNT NAC NIC John PNTC BECNT NIC Acts NIC BECNT Romans NIC BECNT 1 Corinthians NIC BECNT 2 Corinthians NAC NIGTC NIC Galatians WBC NIGTC NAC Ephesians PNTC BECNT WBC Philippians NIGTC NIC Colossians WBC TOTC NIC 1/2 Thess. Elijah
yes, to be able to set the priority per book would be really nice.
Abram K-J
I like the idea. Not every Accordance user would agree with the Best Commentaries ratings, or at least the ideological/theological commitments that tend to be reflected by that site and its users/reviewers. I have found it, though, to be a well-balanced rating system. Some way to do prioritize on a book-by-book basis in the Info Pane would be nice.
