Susan
I frequently right-click on the Hebrew text (which auto-selects the entire word) >> look up >> dictionary. This brings up HALOT, but it always includes prefixed or suffixed words that I'm not interested in. For instance, if I right-click וְהָ֣עֵצִ֔ים it looks up (וְ, הַ, עֵץ). The lexicon is then open to the entry for the article. (I have no idea why, since that one is in the middle.) Of course, I am hardly ever interested in this entry. I want it to ignore the article and the conjunction (as well as any pronominal suffixes in other cases) and just bring up עֵץ. Is there a way to do this without requiring me to manually select that part of the text?
Helen Brown
If HALOT is set as your default Hebrew lexicon, then triple-click on the word does ignore the prefix and simply look up the lemma.
Susan
Thanks, Helen. That is a better method for multiple reasons.
