Jubilee's text full of gaps

Hi,

I just recently bought the Greek Pseudepigrapha add-on. Today I was running a search on Abraham's sacrifice of Isaak in it, and found to my dismay that the text in Jubilee was very partial after chapter 11 (I need mostly chapter 17-20).

Is the accordance version of the Pseudepigrapha only based on some evidence or do we owe the full text of Jubilee to a manuscript in another language? Do I have a way to access it in accordance?

Cheers
Vincent

Hi Vincent

The Latin, Greek, and Hebrew versions of this text only exist as fragments. So you'll need to look up the the Ethiopic version, as it is the only one that contains the entire text, but it isn't available in Accordance, I'm afraid.

With kind regards

*EDIT*

I just searched around a bit on the forums and found this thread from 2013 by Niko - while it received no replies, it did manage to get over 700 views, so there seems to be at least some interest in the Ethiopic literary corpus, if perhaps only for the Book of Jubilees and Book of Enoch.

I can only agree with the sentiments in his thread: I would also like to see the entire Bible in the Ge'ez script as it is an important source for critical studies of the Bible on par with Peshitta and Vulgata, both of which Accordance do have. Still, even if there happens to be a sufficient Accordance user-base for the Ethiopic Bible, finding an expert in Ethiopic who'd want to make it available in Accordance is another story - Biblical scholars who know Ethiopic aren't that common. I haven't even gotten around to learn it yet, and my affinity lies with the Sumero-Akkadian and Ugaritic literature, too, so I'm no expert on the field.

Guntis also made this thread from 2013 which is a bit parallel to what you want, as he asks for translations of several not widely known pseudepigraphical texts, including the Book of Jubilees and Book of Enoch. This would also be great to have.

Both the Charles and the Charlesworth editions of the Pseudepigrapha in English include the book of Jubilees, and are available in Accordance.
