Brian W. Davidson
Is this the correct search syntax to find all hollow verbs that are hiphil wayyiqtol 3rd person with a suffix of any kind? [sUFFIX] [VERB hifil wawConsecutive third] @?ו? Edited March 20, 2015 by bdavidson792

Peter Brylov Christensen
Hi there, Brian The search criteria are true for the hollow verbs with a waw, but it won't count the hollow verbs with a yod. I think this should work (read from the right to the left): [sUFFIX] ?י?@ [VERB hifil wawConsecutive third] <OR> [sUFFIX] ?ו?@ [VERB hifil wawConsecutive third] This yields 123 hits. Granted, with your search conditions, the search for ע''י verbs only added two extra results, וַיְבִינֵ֔הוּ in Isaiah 40:14 and וַיְקִאֶ֑נּוּ in Job 20:15, but I guess it still counts. With kind regards Peter Christensen *EDIT* Typo: Changed "Ezekiel" to "Isaiah" Edited March 21, 2015 by Pchris
Ken Simpson
Hi Brian and Peter, Peter’s search will find the waw and yod hollow verbs but I would use this for economy. [sUFFIX] ?(יו)??@ [VERB hifil wawConsecutive third] The second ? is limited in this search to being either a yod or a waw. And voila!
Peter Brylov Christensen
Thanks for pointing this out, Ken - it looks a lot neater than my search criteria. Edited March 21, 2015 by Pchris
