KevinPurcell
I have the IVP OT and NT Background commentaries. I want to have one pane open and have it automatically switch when the Bible it's tied to changes from OT to NT. For example I'm in Genesis and then go to Romans. I'd like the commentary to follow and switch from the entry in the OT version to the Romans entry in the NT version. Is that possible with Accordance, and if so, how do I make that happen. If it is supposed to happen already, it's broken. How do I fix it?
Joel Brown
When displaying your IVP OT Commentary as a parallel pane with your bible, simply click on the icon next to that pane's gear, which looks like two overlapping squares. This is the 'Combine Resources' button and lets you do exactly as you are hoping. It should list your IVP NT Commentary there, which when selected, will automatically switch between the OT and NT commentaries as appropriate. Once you've done this, if you want to save this as a preset Combined Resource, you can do so under the same icon 'Save this Combined Tool'. If you don't see the icon, perhaps your IVP commentaries are out of date and needing the free upgrade to enable this - try Check for Content Upgrades in the Accordance menu. Julie Palmer
Make sure you first have the commentary set as a parallel to your Bible text.
R. Mansfield
Hmm...I just looked and evidently we don't have a video demonstrating this. I can probably do that later in the week. Kevin, I can screenshare with you at your convenience and show you. Or look in the Accordance Help under Digging Deeper > Combined Resources.
Daniel Francis
When or WILL this combined feature be activated for NIB? -Dan
Chuck Schneider
There's a difference between zones and parallel panes. It's not possible to combine resources in zones, unfortunately.
Daniel Francis
But even having the NIB say OT module in a parallel pane will not show the combined button to show up so i can got from OT to NT.... -dan

Daniel Francis
That is all fine and good but as you can see from this picture no combined icon is there and there is a statement in help digging deeper "Manually Combine Two Resources If one Text has already been opened in a parallel pane, follow this procedure: On the Pane bar, click Combine (). A pop-up menu appears. The Combine button does not appear if the displayed resource cannot be combined with another resource. " As you can see there is no combine button even though this commentary set has been broken into two modules. I am just wondering if I will ever be able to combine the 2 NIB modules. -Dan

Helen Brown
I doubt we will do the JSB with the JANT, but definitely agree we need to update the NIB to allow the combination. Thanks for the heads up.
