Confusing construct search error message

Hi ya,

 

  Mac 10.10.3

  Acc 11.0.6

 

  I have a tab with NA28 Greek NT open and a construct search in it. The construct is a CHAR search for ; Now if I have the words/verses set to words and the scope set to anything but verse I get this message :

 

  Character searches are only support while searching with the "Verse" field.

 

  But setting the words/verse to verse and rerunning the query fails to execute silently. The query in the search box remains in bold black rather than going grey but there is no new message produced. If I change the scope to verse then the query runs but automatically switches the field back to "word".
