I am trying to create a search that would give me a list of every word used in the GNT in an epistle/book, in frequency order. Any suggestions?

Sure - that’s pretty simple once you know how to do it.

First, make sure you have the GNT selected.

then either use a custom range (saveable)

or the range command (faster)

Enter * so you get some hist

then analysis=> Word count from the Analysis drop down

then finally, sort by count down

and you will get your result!

Hope that’s what you were looking for!

You can hope off the more common ones using the COUNT command too. Ask if you’d like to know how to do that.

Ken:

Thank you so much for the reply and the step by step instructions. I follow these and it worked perfectly. This was just what I was wanting to do.

Please show me how to get the more common ones by using the COUNT command.

Thank you!

Sure Tony.

There are two ways to skin that cat (as above) but this time they give different results.

If instead of * [RANGE whatever]  you use [COUNT 100+] that will return for you every word in the chosen RANGE that occurs 100 or more times in the whole New Testament. (modifying example 2)

If you use [COUNT 100+] with the custom range (modifying example 1] then you will get only the words that occur more that 100 or more times in the custom range.

With Count you can use individual numbers [COUNT 1] gives you hapaxes, or ranges of numbers [COUNT 1-100] gives you every word that occurs from 1-100 times, or like the one above [COUNT xxx+] meaning xxx and greater. Check out the help pages here (file:///applications/Accordance.app/Contents/Resources/Accordance%20Help/Default.htm#topics/06_braa/count.htm?Highlight=COUNT)  for detailed info - you will need to copy and paste this into your browser toolbar)

If you need screenshots I can supply, but in a bit of a hurry right now, sorry.
